Teams in Motion Team Health Check – Webinar

In Team Health Check, Teams In Motion

In case you missed it — last week, we co-facilitated a webinar to introduce our Teams in Motion Team Health Check.  My co-presenter was Shane Douthitt of SMD-HR.  SMD is an HR Analytics company that is behind our validation study for the team assessment.  The validation study is a huge differentiator!

How can you be sure that when you think you are measuring the effectiveness of a team at decision-making, for example?  You have to have what statisticians call “construct validity”.  That is the only way you can be sure that you are really measuring what you think you are measuring.  We have done extensive literature reviews of the extant studies that measure real teams in real companies to identify the factors that contribute to team effectiveness.

Once you have construct validity for all of the factors, then you have to be sure that if you develop those capabilities in your team, the performance of your team will actually increase and lead to improved productivity, innovation, and results!  That is where ‘criterion validity’ comes in.  Again, a fancy statistic term that means your measures have been proven to PREDICT another measure, such as team effectiveness.

We partnered with SMD for our validation because we want to get it right.  We want to confidently ensure our clients that the capabilities we are building in their teams are going to lead to measurable results!
